This support group is dedicated to the parents of LGBT+ children who have problems accepting their kids’ coming out. Its raison d’etre is to help the parents come to terms with the news about their child’s identity and ultimately to strengthen their relationship.

Such parents’ groups have been working successfully abroad for quite a while. They help to connect people experiencing the same life situation, allowing them to exchange experiences and support. In the Czech Republic we had no such group before, which was why Prague Pride decided to set up one in the frame of the Sbarvouven.cz project. Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, the opening of this support group has been postponed until autumn 2020. 

The support group is under the expert leadership of psychologists Irena Smetackova and Ales Kabilka, who are professional supervisors at the peer-to-peer mentoring website Sbarvouven.cz.

The group’s capacity is 12 people. The meetings will take place monthly, and participation is free of charge.
