Vměstě lecture: Decoding media. Language, connotations and propaganda

12 dubna | 14:00 18:00

In today’s world, propaganda plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion. What techniques are used to manipulate mass consciousness? How does the language of propaganda influence us in politics, the media, and culture? In this lecture, we will explore:

 – The key characteristics of propaganda language and how it differs from other forms of communication.

 – Major rhetorical strategies and manipulative techniques.

 – Real-world examples from contemporary politics, advertising, and pop culture.

This lecture will be valuable for anyone who wants to critically analyze information and understand the mechanisms of influence on public perception.Vměstě is a Russian-speaking group that is dedicated mainly to queer migrants and refugees in the Czech Republic.

We organize meetings to connect Russian-speaking LGBT+ people in Czechia for mutual psychological support. We also organise Speaking Club meetings to ease integration, book exchange, board games and other fun free-time activities to build the community and ensure better mental well-being.

Delve into the intersections of language, power, and identity in this thought-provoking lecture on „Language in Propaganda and Gender Manifestation.“ Explore how language is used to shape narratives, reinforce ideologies, and influence perceptions of gender within both historical and contemporary contexts.

This event invites participants to critically analyze the role of propaganda in perpetuating gender norms and examine how language can serve as a tool for both oppression and resistance.

Presented in Russian, the lecture is open to anyone interested in linguistics, gender studies, and the dynamics of sociopolitical communication. Join us for an engaging discussion and a deeper understanding of how language shapes our world.

Vměstě present a lecture „Feminist philosophy against war“ by Ekaterina Shashlova, a PhD student at Charles University „
