For the first time in 9 years, on 10 August 2019 it rained on us throughout the march. We knew it was bound to happen at some point, and it happened this year! We are however immensely happy that the rain could not stop the participants to the biggest gay pride in Central and Eastern Europe. According to estimates, there were 30,000 in the parade.

JarmarQ is a part of the Pride Park where LGBT+ friendly companies and non-profits present their activities. Come for badges, souvenirs and a ton of useful information! Ready are also photocorners, competitions and chill-out zones. This year, JarmarQ offers 33 organizations; map with its locaion is to be found at the end of the article.

It’s going to be grand, it’s going to be a celebration! Pride Voices, the prestigious talk show of the festival, brings to Prague every year personalities of the global queer scene. We’re introducing those coming this year to share with us their opinions and experiences, and more. They’re coming from the United States, the British Isles, but also Italy and of course the host country. This year we are moving the show into the unique space of the Theatre Royal.

This year’s festival is featuring several interesting female, trans and non-binary activists from all over the world. Who are they? And where can you meet them? We know it all! Whether it’s a discussion in the Pride Village, projection of documents by oversees authors or entertaining talk-show, the rainbow week offers a plenty of opportunities to meet people, who make change in the queer world.

Prague Pride is joining the vast family of prides who will this year reflect the 50th anniversary of Stonewall riots and celebrate the achievements of the LGBT+ movement. As the Czech Republic had a specific LGBT history due to the Iron Curtain, we will focus on the legacy of the past, relevance for today and our responsibility for future generations. Prague Pride 2019 will take place from 5 till 11 August, the Pride Parade on Saturday 10 August.
