Going out with your color is not exactly easy. And one shouldn’t have to do it alone.

At sbarvouven.cz, we help not only young people with coming out, self-acceptance, and/or finding their own identity since 2015. It operates on a peer-to-peer mentoring basis, where clients can choose a mentor and reach out to them in a discreet online chat environment.

About the project

The counseling service is approached by people with a wide range of questions, issues, and topics. The most common are questions regarding coming out, the process of self-acceptance, sexual orientation, gender identity, or acceptance by others, as well as parenting, relationship orientation, aromanticism, asexuality, or non-binarity.

sbarvouven.cz also offers several support groups. The support groups “Find Your Color” are held in Prague, Ostrava, České Budějovice, and Plzeň, and in Prague, we also have a parents’ support group. Most support groups are in Czech, but if you need support and do not speak Czech, you can join the Queer Support Group (+link) every first Friday of the month.

Filip20

We regularly organize queer meet-ups for young people in Prague and Brno, called Filip 20. The first one was held in March 2019 in memory of Filip Havlíček, who took his own life at the age of fourteen because he could not bear the homophobia of Czech society.

Several times a month, we also meet at the LGBT+ Community Centre in Prague in the Teenspace, an afternoon programme for LGBTQIA+ youth aged 13-21. It is conducted in both Czech and English depending on the needs of current attendees, and more information about the current programme can be found in both languages in the LGBT+ Community Centre’s programme.
